Why Picollator Online?

Picollator Online is the only image search engine that uses photos as search criteria instead of textual queries. You do not need to create textual query. Picollator Oline searches by the most natural query - the sample image. It recognizes human faces in the photos and finds the images with similar people to the submitted portrait.

How does Picollator Online work?

Do not care. It works. Recogmission team made significant efforts to simulate mathematically how people represent the environment in their brains. We use complex technologies that enable Picollator Online to distinguish different objects in the pictures, find human faces, recognize and index them.

How Picollator Online searches for people faces?

Picollator Online processes images found in the web, detects faces, recognizes them and classifies as if it does the alphabet or dictionary. So next time you submit a photo Picollator Online searches through the existing image index and finds the picture similar to your picture.

What does Most popular sign on the Home page stand for?

Picollator Online shows Most Popular searches for photos with people on the Home page. You always see 5 pictures that appear in the search results very often. You can also see results for Most popular photos. Just click the Find similar button under the image.

How does Find Similar option work?

Picollator Online scans the Internet, finds pictures and detects faces on them. After that, Picollator Online links faces that are similar to each other in one cluster. So next time you click on the Find similar button under the image, you will see other pictures that the system considers similar to the one.

Do people peculiarities (moustache, hat, eye glasses) influence image search?

There is no system that can define 100% who is the man. Remember that even people mix up faces or cannot recognize an acquaintance. So, if Picollator Online cannot recognize who is in the picture, the system tries to give some possible variants.

Why did my search query return no results?

Picollator Online is now in the beta stage. We still have not scanned enough resources in the Internet. If you submitted a photo and got back no results, it happened because Picollator Online has not yet added the similar photos to the database. But the system will do it for sure in the future.

Why can't I search by picture URL?

You will be able to do it in the next Picollator Online release.

Are there any requirements to the image that I upload?

Image type: TIFF, PNG, JPEG, BMP
Image resolution: not more than 25 MegaPixels
Image size: not less than 128*128 pixels
